Hello! I’ve returned. I briefly went through a period where I became lazy about dressing myself, but I forced myself out of it yesterday. I found this dress at H&M when they came out with their “garden collection” and I had to have it. I loved the maternity-style cut of it, but wasn’t wild about the fussy petal detailing around the neckline (bordering on bridal wear, given the cream colour). I’d had it sitting around my closet for a while and found it difficult to style, but since I’ve always liked cream and black together it finally clicked that it would be a nice piece to wear with my beloved McQ skull scarf. Paring it with a leather bomber, and allowing my hair to do the “depression-era-dust-bowl-maiden” thing that it does when it dries naturally, seemed to create a bit of an lady-aviation vibe. I come from a long line of Air Force men on my father’s side (my great grandfather served in WW1, my grandfather in WW2 - all for the British… Even my dad had his pilot’s license and flew a bush plane when he was younger), so I guess it’s kind of a feeble tribute to them!

Jacket - Line
Scarf - Alexander McQueen
Dress - H&M
Tights - Calvin Klein
Flats - Bloch
Ring - found at Vincent Park in Vancouver
Gold bobby pins in hair - H&M
Also, as I was passing the floral cart at the Commercial Sky-Train station, I couldn’t pass up on treating myself to a bunch of frothy peonies and chrysanthemums (the very same flowers that decorate my left arm! if you count the poppies in the background of the outfit photos, the troika is complete). I don’t actually own any vases, so I plunked them in some milk jugs. Very “wholesome Americana” on my pale yellow arborite kitchen table.

For good measure, here’s one half of my house’s feline population, Danzig. Looking like a dignified Voyageur on a Hudson’s Bay blanket.
