Hey, sorry my posts have been so few and far between. But I guess that’s generally how I roll, so I’m sure that even though you may be disappointed, at least you’re not surprised! The truth is I have been kind of holed up working on projects and trying to tie up all my loose ends before I leave for the holidays (we are headed back to St. John’s for a big family Christmas! Stoked!!). And, I’ve also reapplied to Emily Carr University to try and continue with and hopefully finish my abandoned fine arts degree (kind of a big deal since over the past few years I’ve allowed my confidence in these arenas to almost completely erode).
Anyway, I kind of rediscovered yarn crafts (knitting and crocheting, namely) recently. I first picked up the hobbies about 10 years ago, and actually used to make pocket change by selling super-nerdy FRUiTS magazine inspired hats and leg-warmers on ebay (pre-Etsy! In on the ground floor… AS USUAL), but kind of abandoned them when I discovered hard partying and unhealthy, short-lived, destructive love affairs. Anyway, now that I’m a born-again, shut-in Memamma… no activity could better suit my lifestyle; which generally involves a lot of complaining and downloaded TV series and movies (and video games. I haven’t figured out a way to wield needles and an xbox controller at the same time yet, though. I’ll be sure to post at tutorial when I sort that out). I sort of got back into the swing of things recently by doing a few ugly cowls (what could be easier than knitting or crocheting in the round with giant cartoony needles and fat yarn?). Then I taught myself granny squares and made a plan for a living-room-couch afghan…

Then I got sick of the feel of acrylic yarn on my fingers (gross-out), and decided to take a break and use some nicer wool while simultaneously sticking to a motif to make my friend a nice cozy cowl…

Next up: cables, double-pointed needles, fair-isle/colourwork/intarsia and finally: painfully figuring out how to make my feeble, ADD-addled brain follow the linear jumble of shorthand and abbreviations that make up knitting and crochet patterns. Oh yeah! Feel free to add me on Ravelry to keep tabs on my meagre progress (although, I’ve encountered some bugs on the site when trying to add my projects, so it could be awhile before anything shows up on there)!
